I got a constant connection with nearly no impeded speeds, apart from fractions of kilobits here and there when I was purpose testing this (Also found out, it doesn't show the full speed, it shows how much data is transfered at that instance. I began to pay for the lowest pay plan, in order to use it on my phone and laptop simultaniously, and it worked fine without an issue, and I didn't have to deal with overloaded servers either. I started using the free plan of proton at school to bypass the internal proxy, which allowed me to make use of game services and development environments which were previously blocked.
Terrible service and performance, not to mention the exorbitant cost. With every one of their "updates" performance gets just worse and worse. Have to wait it out until my sub is almost expired to unsub as proton will turn off your service immediately if you unsub and NOT refund you the remainder of your monies. I would say the last half of 2022 into 2023 Proton has been almost unusable. Attempts to "help" after a week or so of troubleshooting, then put it on you saying you are doing something wrong, their service can't suck though, right? Only an option to pick one date of poor service, which is a joke. When you choose to connect to the fastest server, it will connect you to the quickest ping, but 100% congested?!?!?! and let you crawl until you notice yourself and reconnect manually. Does Proton not have an algorithm to move to a less congested server automatically? Performance is absolutely horrid, have to manually reconnect to achieve any decent speed or Proton will literally let you sit in a 100% congested server. Premium subscription Proton consistently throws you into congested servers, even when a profile is set up, Proton should move you to the fastest LEAST CONGESTED server.
